And I said YES! to blogging

Almost a month ago, I told my buddy (a.k.a. Moi) about my desire to create a blog. Why? Because my mind keeps on wandering all the time – when I have nothing to do and even when I’m working and studying. I want to go and visit places. I want to try different restaurants. I want to read books. I want to watch movies. I want to experience a lot of things. And I want to share these experiences with people who have the same interests as I do.

Moi responded by showing to me a website created by his officemate, a lawyer whose pastime is blogging. He encouraged me to start my own blog.

However, I didn’t immediately act on it. My hesitation sprang from the fact that I’m busy with my practicum and soon, I’ll be too occupied with work and law school. I may not be able to maintain the blog. Plus, I’m not really creative. I’m pretty straightforward in writing, and I’m afraid I’ll bore the people reading my blog.

Just this weekend, Moi asked if I already started blogging. I told him that it may not be the right time to start a blog. I have work. Law school is demanding, and by next year (hopefully), I’ll be reviewing for the bar exams. He shared that he knows someone from his batch in UP Law who was very active in blogging during bar review, and that person passed the bar exams. “Kanya-kanyang diskarte lang kasi yan,” he said.

I revisited that conversation. Why am I afraid in pursuing something I like to do? If I don’t start now, when will I be able to do it? I’m sure I’ll always be busy. And who cares if my blog is not creative? It is my blog, it is my outlet. And so today, I said YES! to blogging.

To whoever is reading this entry and is in the same situation as I am – it may not be about blogging but something else that you want to try – I say, go for it now!
